Ghosts of Knitting Past

I was scanning through the knitlist today when I saw a subject line that mentioned a pattern I had submitted to the list back in 1997. Someone was looking to make the sweater and wanted a picture of it.

I had completely forgotten about this sweater. I remember there was a picture of me wearing the thing but it was back in my film camera days and I had no idea where to find it. I had an idea where the sweater was so when I got home I rummaged around and there it was. I held it up and I knew there was no way this sweater was going to fit me anymore. Being a glutton for punishment, I had to try it on. It wasn't pretty. I got it buttoned but the buttons were pulling. The stitches were stretched so much you could tell what brand of bra I had on. My belly peeked out from underneath. This was not something I wanted photographed. I had to find a better model.

PERFECT!!

I think I need to revisit this pattern. A long sleeved version for the fall. In a larger size. I hope I can read my own pattern.

Anyway, if you want to see the pattern, I put a link on the side. If I get around to doing this again I will probably rewrite it. I think I need to Google my name and see if I have any other patterns lurking out there. Just wish my name was Laura Greenqwchver, fewer Google hits.

That was my email address when I worked for Wycliffe. It went defunct when Wycliffe moved to Florida in the summer of 1999. I will have to find out who can update the knitlist site and send a message.

I just checked the actual measure, it was 44". It may be a bit stretched, the sweater has a lot of give to it and I got larger after I made it. If you wanted it smaller you could take out some of the increases in rows 52 - 60. (I noticed I had a little trouble counting on the row numbers in the pattern, there are 3 row 56 and 57s).

Here is a possible example:

Row 51: s1 P to last 6, K6 (151 sts)

Row 52: K27, kfb 2x, K25, kfb 2x, k39, kfb 2x, k25 kfb 2x, k27

Row 53: K6, P to last 6, K6 (159 sts)

Row 54: K

Row 55: K6, P to last 6, K6

Row 56: K28, kfb 2x, K27, kfb 2x, k41, kfb 2x, k27 kfb 2x, k28

Row 57: K6, P to last 6, K6 (167 sts)

Row 58: K

Row 59: K6, P to last 6, K6

Row 60: K29, kfb 2x, K29, kfb 2x, k43, kfb 2x, k29 kfb 2x, k29

Row 61: K6, P to last 6, K6 (175 sts)

Row 62: K31, place 33 on holder, K47, place 33 on holder, K31

Row 63: K6, P to last 6, K6 (109 sts)

Row 64: K

Good luck! Let me know how it works out.

Hi, Its me again :)Lost your email addy ..

I am working on the 10 hour sweater using the "adjustments" that you sent me.. Thank You..
I am not a" gauge tester " :)
I just jump in with the recommended needle sizes.. But My friend said she is using a # 15 needle to get the gauge with homespun..I am using the 10 1/2
I told her that I am thinking the gauge which is written is wrong 10 sts = 4 inches ??? I am thinking 10 sts = 2 inches ???

Thanks Again
